Insert Corny Joke About Online Learning Here

Updated: May 5, 2023

Hello loves. Welcome to the wonders of online learning. Having fun yet? If you aren't, then awesome. You're finally at school. It feels just like old times.

So, here I am, your fairy godmother, to hopefully get you on the right track.

For the most part, we're going to be using Google Classroom. I already did a post on Zoom so you can check that one out for added information.

Google Classroom is an online classroom that allows students to access assignments, receive grades and interact with their teachers.

Teachers get to see the students who are participating, send out assignments, grade them and teach using Google Meets.

Using it can take some getting used to so here's a step by step break down of how to use your Google Classroom:

For teachers to access Google Classroom:

1. Get your School accountAlso known as a G Suite for Education account, this account is set up by an accredited school. It looks likeyou@yourschool.edu. If you don't know your G Suite for Education account details, ask your teacher or the school’s IT admin.

2. Go to Google Classroom. It is going to require that you sign in with the email that you received from your admin or I.T guy. If you use that email, you get the benefits of whatever comes with being a part of the school's package.

For example, your email address is: jverde@stcathshja.com. You put that email in when you sign in Google Classroom for the first time. After that it should save your password

and keep you logged in. If you need more help, or pictures are your thing, go here.

3. Create your classroom. Click this link and it will show you exactly what to do.

4. And bammmmm... you have your first class. I'm very proud of you. Good Job.

For students to get into Google Classroom:

To use Classroom, you need to sign in on your computer or mobile device and then join classes with your Google gmail account. No other account will work. Then, you can get work from your teacher and communicate with your classmates. When you join a class on one device, you're enrolled in that class on all devices. How to join a class You have 2 ways to join a class:

  • Join a class with a class code—If your teacher gives you a class code, use this code to add yourself to the class. Your teacher might give you the code while you’re in class or email it to you.

  • Accept an invitation from your teacher—If your teacher sends you an invitation, you’ll see Join on the class card on your Classroom homepage.

Forgot or lost the class code? Code won't work? If you deleted, lost, or forgot the class code before joining a class, ask your teacher to resend the code or set a new one. If the code isn’t working, ask your teacher for help. Note: You only use the class code once to join the class. You are then enrolled in the class, and you don't need to re-use the code again.

If you need that picture guidance as so many of us do, go here.

If there are any questions, my work hours are between 9:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. I f you ask after that, I'm going to block you. It's called self- care.

Love and Light to all,

-M.Teape, the I.T Person

p.s, I don't really know stuff. I just know people who know stuff.
